4am blog posts.

Today I slept in, I worked, and I stayed up wayyyy too late. Sounds pretty normal, right? ;)

I woke up around 11am, and said goodbye to Emily; her family is here this week and when she gets back, I'll be gone because my family will be here (!!!!!) so we realized we wouldn't see each other for a week. Which is very odd when you've been living in the same room as someone for two months. If I don't see her for a night it feels like it's been forever. I'm glad that my family will be here to distract me... if she just wasn't here for a week and I still had to do daily routine I think I'd go mad. I'm so glad we are from the same area or else I'd cry like a baby when we had to say goodbye at the end of the program.

I adore this girl.
I managed to get a schedule change for tomorrow in just before the noon deadline at 11:50am and it was approved an hour later - I no longer have to work at ibev tomorrow! (That's the very hot, very long day location). And it's supposed to thunder all day and it would just not be fun. But it's not my problem anymore! :) And, looking closer at my schedule, it looks like I might actually get paid for some of the time I took off this week! I'll only know once I get my paycheck, but that would be awesome!! One schedule says I'm not working, but the other same I have three 8 hour shifts next week without any breaks. And that I'm working at the 'support' location. Not only have I never heard of 'support' location, but each scheduled day automatically schedules your breaks as well. An 8 hour day should have an unpaid half hour scheduled in somewhere. Too strange. Here's hoping! Either way, I have the next 8 days off (including every day my family is here)! Life is so good :)

I headed off to work, looking forward to working at Promenade today. It was a scorcher - 36 feels like 47 - and I scored an air conditioned building! So good. Until I got there and realized I'd be working with Alex. And that a bazillion Brazilian tour groups were there. And that my popcorn machine wouldn't be working right away. And that I would be closing with Alex. Sigh. Alex is a good guy who means well, but he comes off as exceedingly creepy and works very slowly and does hardly any real work and is a little bit... odd. I did my very best to be nice, but it was a very busy afternoon and evening so I was mostly concerned with just moving my line through as quickly as possible. Which is very hard when a tour group of 25 Spanish teens who don't speak a word of English all want a hot dog. And you'd cooked a grand total of 4. So wonderful.

All I have to say is God bless Laura, who came over from Port to help out while Alex was on his break, and God bless Megan, who was sent over from kitchen and walked in dreading it because she really hates working with Alex. But not only is Megan a fast worker, she doesn't complain. She just put her head down and did her job - which was filling for us. Getting though a line of people goes so so so  much faster when you don't have to leave your register every time. Not only was she excellent, when we closed she also cleaned out my popcorn machine in record time so that I didn't have to worry about it. Which turned out to be even better than I thought since I ended up doing enough work for both Alex and I in the clean up process. He got about halfway through the dishes before complaining of a hand cramp. So I finished those. And did everything else. Honestly, that's not an exaggeration. Alex did half of the dishes and swept the floor. Sigh. I was an hour late clocking out. More money, I guess?

It was my last day though, so I'll let it go. The bus pulled up basically as soon as I arrived at the stop and I was home by 11:30pm. Emily isn't home and so I sat down to watch an episode of Doctor Who and play some Minecraft before I went to sleep.

The next thing I knew, it was 4am and I hadn't written a post yet. No joke, I'm writing this sentence at 4:39am and my brain is wired even if my eyelids are fighting gravity. It s a good thing I don't work tomorrow after all! (I will be changing the time stamp of this post to yesterday to keep things consistent though. In fact, any post you see with a time stamp of 11:59pm I write after midnight, but want the correct date on the post for what I did that day!)

Now it is definitely time for some sleep. Good night, erm, morning?
