Last training day!

Today I got to sleep in! I decided that catching up on some much needed sleep was a better idea than trying to get to another park this morning before work. Ten and a half uninterrupted hours of it, and I was feeling much much better :)

I went to work for 3pm, for my last training day. Once again I was with Phyllis, and today I met Brittany who was on her third training day. We were at Port which is our biggest and (usually) our busiest location. It was a pretty boring day though; about 15 minutes after we arrived at Port, a huge thunder and lightning storm hit right over us. The downpour sent most people home, and the lightning was lovely to watch. I was glad to be inside and not at one of the ice cream carts!

I am definitely getting used to the Florida weather - even at 75 degrees indoors (about 23 or 24 celsius) I was chilled. I ended up standing next to the fryers and drinking hot chocolate. At home, it would have been ice water and a cool fan! We mostly just hung around until the rain let up and we got busy again at about 8:30 - when the fireworks are about to come on, everyone wants snacks for watching them.

A couple of girls who were drinking their way around the world showcase for a bachelorette party came up to our window and asked what kind of Canadian beers we had - but we aren't in the Canadian pavilion, and we have no beer at our location. They had walked right by the Canadian place and it was now closed. They seemed upset, as they were both wearing shirts with a check list on the back; to be signed by a member of the country where they were drinking. When I told them that technically I could sign since I was Canadian, they were over the moon about it! "You count, you count!!! A real live Canadian!! Get us something alcoholic and sign our shirts!!!" They were a little tipsy and probably happier about it than they would have been sober, but I was able to sign each shirt with "Stephanie - a real live Canadian" :) Made my day!

We closed up right on time and were able to hear the fireworks while wiping down. I was on dishes tonight which is exactly how it sounds. Wash, rinse, sanitize, repeat. We were finally out of there by 10:45 and I was very blessed to have no rain on the way home either. I rode the bus home with Carlos - a guy from Mexico that I meant my first day. He's a sweetheart who doesn't feel right sitting if there is a woman standing. He taught me a few Spanish words (que onda means what's up) and asked me a lot of questions about whether or not the stereotypes about Canadians are true. He also goes to school in Mexico with one of my roommates, Elisa. It was a good way to end the day :)

I got home around 11:30 and now and headed to bed; a busy day tomorrow will have me up early again and so I hope last night's sleep will hold me over for a few days! Night :)
