Today was the first day where, even though I was in a park, I wasn't doing anything Disney; not really. It was kind of strange. Work was much better today than Saturday; I learned how to deep fry things and how to serve ice cream! I'm really moving up the the world ;)
I would just like to say thank you to my Staples and Eclipse families for teaching me how to competently use a cash register though. Even though I still reach for loonies and toonies, my fellow trainee today was brutally slow on cash. It took her forever to count out change or to find the correct POS buttons. When she was on cash, I was filling all of her orders and sometimes the order of the next guest in line while we waited for her to finish ringing the current guest through. When I was on cash, I was filling half of my own, as well as taking the payments. Oh well, I don't have to work with her again while training, so I guess that's over. My trainer today was great - she was very clear in how things worked and was willing to speed me along when I quickly learned something, or showed that I already knew how to do something.
My favorite guest of the day was a middle-aged couple who had just been to Nova Scotia! When they found out I lived right next to the Bay of Fundy they were flabbergasted. They thought it was beautiful up there, and I had to agree. I think the most disappointing part of this job will be not being able to chat with these kinds of guests for longer periods of time - I have to keep serving up the next folks in line regardless of how interesting a conversation might be (on the other hand, I wont get stuck talking to a guest I don't want to talk to... as I do have to keep lines moving!)
The day moved on pretty quickly - I got a free lunch because it was my first day at the Refreshment Port stand, which is really the biggest stand we have and is central to everything we do. I had the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was really good! :) The fryer smells were both delightful and sickening all day, but I made it through :) I really enjoyed it there, which is good since I have a feeling I will be there quite often.
As the day finished off, we walked back to base and counted out our till; this time we were one cent over... and I had no problem signing for that one ;)
I got home and found Emily - she had stayed home all day to nurse her sunburn. She's feeling much better, now that she's had a recharge day and some aloe! I remember her calling in sick this morning before my alarm went off so I'm glad it worked out :) I ventured over to the little laundry house and was able to use my credit card to start the washer - which was a relief since I'm almost out of clothes and have no quarters. It was very easy to do and I came back to the apartment and facetimed Tanya for a while before switching my clothes to the dryer. It was nice to see her again, and have my best friend to rant to about work and boys and drama and things that don't really matter, but that she understands :) Once I hug up and switched my clothes, I called my family! I love being able to call them and see them for free. And my apple-device seems to be allowing me to continue so far! yay!
A pretty boring day, but good none the less :) An early bedtime tonight and another early day tomorrow!
